We’re excited to announce that Lena has just recently been promoted to Human Resources Manager at Suttle and King! Lena joined us in January of 2017 and has quickly become a crucial member of our team. We want to tell you a little bit about her!
Lena was born and raised in Old Tappan, New Jersey, where she attended Montclair State University nearby. She describes her younger self as a tomboy, who loved skate parks and discovering new, unknown places to escape to. She still enjoys sports, and is an avid Jets fan! Some of her guilty pleasures include cereal, medium rare steak, and of course, a good cup of coffee!
One of Lena’s favorite books is, “The One Thing”, by Gary Keller. She likes the book’s message that no matter what you are trying to achieve in life, it can be accomplished by taking things one step at a time. You can always apply the lessons from books to everyday life. Whether it be as simple as cooking dinner, or as complex as becoming an organizational administrator, the best way to achieve your goals is by focusing on one thing at a time.
When it comes to becoming a success, Lena is most inspired by her older sister, Reem. “She is 16 years older than I am, so growing up, she had always been a second mother to me. She’s beautiful, smart, passionate, motivated, hard-working, and successful. People always negatively labeled her a workaholic but she never let that come between her and her goals. Now, while all those people are living paycheck to paycheck, she is living her fabulous life in New York city. She taught me to see positivity in the most negative of situations and for this reason I feel as though nothing could ever prevent me from reaching my goals.” -Lena
Before joining our team at Suttle and King, Lena worked at Chili’s. She was initially attracted to our company by the potential for growth available at our firm. She is attracted to this industry because she has a “work hard, play hard” mindset and she feels as though this business shares her values.
While working here, Lena has enhanced her recruiting skills and learned how to read people and assess character through tone of voice. Her favorite thing about being an employee is the fact that everyone genuinely wants to see their coworkers grow and succeed.
We asked Lena what she thinks most attributed to her success and this is what she had to say, “My attitude. I have gone through a lot of difficult times growing up and one thing has always been the same with each of these times; I got through. I remind myself every single day that “Tomorrow, I will be just a little bit stronger and better than I am today.” In the work place, I tell myself the same thing. If I make a mistake today, it’s ok. Instead of getting upset, I’ll learn how to do it so that tomorrow, I’ll be more knowledgeable and better.”
She offers the same advice to others looking to start a career in this industry, “It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it! You have to simply take it one day at a time.”
Lena’s goals for the future include traveling more, publishing a book and becoming an organizational recruiter, (helping other locations around the US with on-boarding, recruiting efforts, advertising, and office management)! She’s got some big goals, but we know that with her talents and ambition, she will accomplish all of them and more!
We hope you have enjoyed getting to know Lena as much as we have!
